Sony AIT (Advanced Intelligent Tape) format is intelligently engineered to stand apart tape cartridge features both an MIC chip (the brains) and a pure metal magnetic layer. The AIT drive ensures extreme reliability with increased back-up capacity and is designed for strenuous, high duty-cycle applications. AIT was developed for the purpose of efficiently and reliably storing large amounts of data. The recording capacity of over 100 gigabytes together with a data transfer speed of 24 MB/sec. AIT incorporates fast/wide SCSI technology to maximize data transfer to and from the host system at a burst rate of 160 MB/sec. AIT have another type of data tape product like AIT-1, AIT-2, AIT-3, AIT-4, AIT Turbo, AIT Cleaning Cartridge, AIT Super Tape, AIT Barcode Labels and AIT Empty Cases.
